The Saskatchewan Roughriders are gifting Rider Nation an early present this holiday season. According to 3DownNation insider Justin Dunk, the Green and White have agreed to a contract extension with pending free agent quarterback Trevor Harris.
Terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but the extension is a one-year deal for the 2025 season.
In 2024, Harris started 12 games for the Riders, leading the league with a 108.4 quarterback rating. He completed 72.4 percent of his passes for 3,264 yards with 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
The new agreement means the 38-year-old QB will enter his third season with the Riders. However, injury interrupted his first two campaigns in Green and White.
In 2023, Harris’ season ended after five games when he suffered a tibial plateau fracture in his right knee.
Last season, the Edinboro University graduate missed six games after spraining his MCL in Week 3. He would, though, return to the lineup and lead the Riders to a 9-8-1 record and a home playoff game, which led to the team’s first appearance in the West Final since 2021.
Following the season, Harris earned praise and respect from Riders vice-president of football operations and general manager Jeremy O’Day.
“Trevor is everything that you see on a regular basis when he speaks, when he’s in the huddle, when he’s in the locker room, when he’s home with his family. He’s a true leader.”
Head coach Corey Mace was asked his opinion on bringing Harris back.
“I think it is evident that he can still be a highly functioning quarterback in this league. It’s hard to win in this lead without someone that can get the job done back there at that position.”
Harris has been in the CFL since 2012, suiting up for Toronto, Ottawa, Edmonton, Montreal and Saskatchewan.
