MILLIONAIRES 1, TERRIERS 2 (OT)

For the second time in the series it went to overtime, and for the second time the Yorkton Terriers came out on top.

Tate Schofer scored the game winner with 4:15 left in the first OT to lead the Yorkton Terriers to a 2-1 Game 5 victory over the Melville Millionaires to become the first team to book a spot in the SJHL’s Final Four.

Vinay Junek gave the Terriers the lead late in the first period to make it 1-0 after one period.

After a scoreless second, the Millionaires continued their push back and were rewarded with the tying goa as Preston Baerwald deflected home a point shot with just 1:05 remaining to push the game to the extra period.

Both goalies were terrific on Friday night as Terriers netminder Callum Creig made 37 saves on 38 shots in the win, while Ben Laurette stopped 25 of 27 in between the pipes for the Mils.

The Terriers will most likely begin round two of the SJHL postseason next Friday night with their opponent still to be determined with the other three SJHL Quarter-Finals continuing with their Game 5’s on Saturday night.
