Some Yorkton businesses have got behind the Yorkton Terriers who are currently bringing their best game to the SJHL playoffs. One such business place, the Yorkton Best Western Inn has gone all out in their support for their favorite hometown team.
Best Western general manager and coincidentally team chaplain for the past two and a half seasons, John Anderson, says the local motor inn is fully behind the Terriers. An avid hockey fan and team supporter since he moved to the city in 2007, Anderson quips, "I bleed orange and black."
In addition to parking his car with its terriers flags at the entrance to the inn, Anderson and his staff have redecorated the lobby and breakfast room in a Terrier theme. The front desk has been redone in Terrier orange and black colors. The wall behind the front desk currently sports two players' jerseys, hockey cards of the 2010-11 Terriers, a hockey stick with black and orange balloons hanging from the chandeliers. The main coffee has also received attention with the Terrier logo, colors and Terriers' name.
Commenting on Yorkton's performance in the opening round against the Estevan Bruins, Anderson says, "They're making us proud. They're playing with all their heart and everything they have. I can't say enough about them." He also says he'd like to see the team go all the way to claiming the Credit Union Cup, the Anavet Cup and finally capturing the RBC Cup.
The Yorkton Best Western supports the team all season long. The motor inn offers a special rate to families and friends of the players who come from out of town to take in a game, right from the spring training camp until the game of the playoffs.
The best Western challenges local businesses to show their support and appreciation for the Yorkton Terriers. "I want to see all of Yorkton orange and black. Go Terriers, Go," Anderson closes.
