Women in Yorkton have a new option for staying fashionable. Shoe La La recently held its grand opening, offering a selection of shoes, clothing and accessories. Lorie Antony, the store's owner, says that the business comes from her own love of shoes, and she felt that Yorkton needed another option for women to find the shoes they need to get through the day.
"Yorkton is booming, we need to keep everybody in their footwear."
The inventory was selected with a mind for having shoes for every situation, from practical options for work to more fun alternatives for the evening. Antony says that their goal is to take a woman through her day, with shoes to meet all of the different situations a woman might need to dress for. She says comfort being a major part of the work shoes and that one of the careers she considered was that of nurses, since that's an occupation that is hard on their feet.
"We have a huge healthcare sector that needs to be on their feet twelve hours a day, so we've got to have the comfort shoes."
The store also offers custom dyeing of shoes, with Antony saying that they can get the shoes in any colour you can imagine. She says that this is a big plus for the area, as before people had to send the shoes far away to get them dyed, and she says that it has been popular as wedding season kicks into high gear.
She says that the main challenge for the business so far is getting people to know where they are, but that with the business being flanked by Pizza Hut and Chester's Chicken she finds people will stop for a meal and then go to see what she has to offer.
