Canora RCMP: Man with outstanding firearms warrant arrested

Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a suspicious person complaint. The man was found to have an outstanding warrant of arrest for serious firearm related charges out of Regina, and was remanded into custody.

RCMP are looking for this man, who has been connected to the theft of a ladder outside a business in Canora.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 62 calls from Sept. 12 to Sept. 19; some of which included:

  • one 911 Act call,

  • two break and enters,
  • four Child Welfare Act calls,
  • two disturbing the peace,
  • one distributing intimate images without consent,
  • one Firearms Act call,
  • one Fire Prevention Act call,
  • two harassing communications,
  • one Mental Health Act call,
  • four mischiefs,
  • one offender management,
  • one possession of cocaine,
  • two resisting/obstructing an officer,
  • one roadside suspension,
  • four suspicious persons,
  • four thefts, 21 traffic offenses,
  • two Trespass Act calls,
  • two vehicle collisions,
  • four wellbeing checks, and
  • three prisoners.

Tire slashed

On Sept. 18, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated mischief in Canora. A tire was slashed on a vehicle while it was parked on Main Street. Police continue to investigate.

Break and enter

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated a report on Sept. 18 of a break and enter to a business in Preeceville. Police continue to investigate.

Thief gets around

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a suspicious person complaint in Canora on Sept. 17. The caller reported the man matched the description of a person who had attempted to break and enter a residence in Norquay. Police located the man who provided a false name and took off running. Police gave chase and the man was arrested for obstruction and resisting arrest. The man was found to have an outstanding warrant of arrest for serious firearm related charges out of Regina, and was remanded into custody.

Machinery mischief

On Sept. 17, the Canora/RCMP investigated a mischief complaint to heavy machinery in the RM of Good Lake. A suspect has been identified and police continue to investigate.

Arrest after flight from police

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP arrested a man at a residence in Canora on Sept. 17 who was wanted by the Yorkton RCMP for dangerous driving and flight from police. The man was taken to Yorkton and remanded into custody.

Found child

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a found child in Canora on Sept. 16. The caller had witnessed a young girl running down the street and gave chase. The caller brought the child back to their residence and called police. The child was reported missing shortly after they walked out the front door of a nearby home. Both mom and child were promptly reunited.

Fire destroys home

On Sept. 15, the Canora RCMP were dispatched to a house fire in Rama. The Invermay Fire Department attended and extinguished the fire. The home was destroyed. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

Stolen ladder, easy-to-find culprit

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP investigated a report of a ladder being stolen from outside a business in Canora on Sept. 12. The thief was caught on camera wearing reflective overalls and a cowboy hat. Police continue to investigate.
