INVERMAY - Despite being a short month, February was jam packed with activities In Invermay School.
On Feb. 5, the K to 4 students had an amazing, informative presentation from the dedicated Invermay Volunteer Firefighters! The firefighters shared valuable lessons on fire safety, teaching our young ones how to be prepared in case of an emergency and how to stay safe around fire hazards. The highlight of the day was getting up close to the new fire truck and hearing its loud siren! Thank you to the firefighters for their time and effort in educating our students about such an important topic!
On Feb. 6, Saskatchewan Roughrider ambassadors Peter Godber and Charbel Dabire came to Invermay School to spend time with the students for the Saskatchewan Roughrider Reading & Win with Wellness program. The students enjoyed their visit as well as the player cards they gave out. Thank you, Saskatchewan Roughriders!
The winter activities continued on for Invermay School throughout the month of February. Despite the cold weather, the students still managed to spend time outside and have some fun going sliding!
Invermay School’s annual TeleMiracle carnival and barbecue took place in our school on Feb. 7. This year’s theme was Colour Carnival. Each classroom was assigned a colour to dress up as and the many different colours, all around the school were a spectacular sight! All of the carnival games were also colour-themed and were greatly enjoyed by the staff and students. Invermay School raised $1,600 towards TeleMiracle 49!
The students and staff also got to hear from Invermay School alumnus Orrie Babichuk, accompanied by Miss Lozinski, as he presented his story about being a Telemiracle beneficiary.
On Feb. 10, the Grade 1/2 class celebrated 100 days of learning, fun, and growth. Each of them created fantastic 100-day poster projects!
Invermay School proudly recognized two staff members with GSSD Service Recognition Awards, presented on Feb. 13 during GSSD Staff Appreciation week. Congratulations Brenda Carbno (teacher) for 10 years of service and Mrs. Cheryl Knight (bus driver) for 25 years of service!
The SRC hosted a successful Valentine’s Day formal as well as a dance on Feb. 14. Everyone had a great time and had the opportunity to take pictures in our photo booth!
Invermay School celebrated Pink Shirt Day on Feb. 24. The Invermay School Red Cross organized a kindness bulletin board filled with the handprint of every student and staff member along with kind messages.
