Two newcomers join Canora council

Canora voters have made their decision at the polls.

CANORA — Canora voters have re-elected four incumbents and brought on two new people onto council.

The new councillors elected in the Nov. 13 byelection are Gina Rakochy, who received 249 votes, and Todd Bobyk, who received 247 votes. Rakochy has served on council and as mayor in the past, but not in the last term.

Incumbents re-elected are:

  • David Wasyliw, 339 votes
  • Denise Leslie, 305 votes
  • Bradley Gabora, 287 votes
  • Kerry Trask, 256 votes

Mayor Mike Kwas was acclaimed. He was mayor in the previous term as well.

Other candidates that ran in the election were:

  • Kevin Haw, 219 votes
  • Jacqueline Fetchuk, 212 votes
  • Cory O’Dell, 206 votes
  • Eric Sweeney, 191 votes
  • Lucas Senechal, 161 votes
  • Dwaine Senechal, 134 votes
  • W.H (Bill) Reaume, 58 votes

One ballot was spoiled.
