Town of Preeceville elects new mayor

New council set to take their Oath to Office in the next few weeks in the Town of Preeceville.

PREECEVILLE - The Town of Preeceville municipal election saw a new mayor elected on Nov. 13. The election saw 378 ballots cast at the polling station in the Preeceville Community Hall.

Darin Newton was declared as mayor with 245 votes over his opponents Michael Doogan who received 105 votes and Dale Schur received 26 votes.

New and returning councillors were, re-elected were Taylor Sliva with 286 votes, Kenton Hull received 266 votes, and Meaghan Nelson received 241 votes, newly elected were, Jared Stefanyshyn received 241 votes, Ashley Ward received 190 votes and Stacey Strykowski received 179 votes.

Other candidates who ran for council were, Welma Bartel who received 76 votes, Sheldon Luciw received 171 votes, Brian MacDonald received 75 votes, Colin Pasiechnik received 86 votes and Ken Stearns received 115 votes, as reported by Lorelei Karcha, administrator.
