Preeceville - The Preeceville and District Lions Club welcome back its annual Western Weekend, which is set for July 12, 13 and 14.

"We are pulling out all the stops with continuing the tradition of chuck-wagon and chariot races by the Eastern Chuckwagon and Chariot Association. The Etomaime Valley Riders Club will be sponsoring a two-day gymhkana followed by plenty of activities for everyone,” said Ralph Ager, chairperson.

Kicking off the weekend on Friday will be a Texas hold-em tournament followed by an outdoor movie featuring Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

Saturday attractions will be a car show and shine, mini trade show, bingo, bouncy castle for children, beer gardens and a Saturday night dance with a Call Me Mindy providing the entertainment, a coed slo-pitch tournament and mens softball is also being held and concludes with fireworks.

Sunday will feature a pancake breakfast and a Christian Cowboy service.

Once again, the car demolition derby will be held on Sunday and will excite everyone in attendance with a large crowd watching and cheering on their favorite car.

Plane rides, a petting zoo, bingo under the big tent and Magic J a magician will be available on both days.

"The club’s a red barn unit will be used as a ice-cream booth as it has a power electricity outlet," said Ager.

In July 10, 1960, the club hosted its first sports day with a sum of $1,400 raised, stated the Preeceville History Book
