By way of an obituary in the Saskatoon Star Phoenix, notice has been received of the passing of Gwen (nee Heuser) Dingwall on Feb. 28, 2012 at the age of 82. Gwen came to Dubuc when her husband, Rev. Stewart Dingwall, became minister of the former United Church Dubuc-Waldron Pastoral Charge in the late 50's. She was predeceased by Reverend Stew but will be sadly missed by her children, Janet, Karen, Sheldon, special nieces, Thedra and Janice and nephew, Bill (who joined their family as youngsters) and all her extended family. Sympathy is also extended to one of her surviving sisters, Lillian (Heuser) Mitchell, who was a school teacher in Dubuc while Dingwalls were ministering here.
On March 25 weekend, Jim and Vivian Talbot motored to Regina to join their children at the Seven Oaks: Dayna (Pat) Markwart, Jayme and Colton of Regina; Darla Bailey, Carter, Sarah and Liam from Hazlet; Shane (Terra) Talbot, Riley and Ashalee of Dubuc. They had a great weekend of visiting, water sliding and swimming. Following Sunday brunch at the Hotel Sask, family pictures were taken at the Tommy Douglas building. The following weekend, Jim and Vivian travelled to Moose Jaw to meet Chris Topliss, Yorkton; Lucille (Larry) Stradeski, Grenfell; Doreen (Bernard) Kulcsar, Red Deer, AB; Elsie (Malvin) Zimmer, Regina; Sylvia (Dennis) Chinner, Lethbridge, AB; Mervin (Dawn) Andersen, Regina; and Jeanette (Ed) Boyechko, Esterhazy. Again, visiting and much laughter filled the weekend. A special brother and sister's supper at the Hopkins House Dining Parlour was the highlight of the get together. Congrats, Jim and Vivian on your 40th wedding anniversary.
Audrey and Peter Nielsen were in North Battleford recently to celebrate their son, Murray's, birthday. They also had a lovely visit with their granddaughters Kassidy, Ellisa, and Terra.
Sandra Forsberg from Saskatoon spent two weeks before Easter with her mom, Mary, giving her a hand as Mom recuperated from a short stay in the hospital. Dallas and Danya Forsberg of Regina and Gary Forsberg of Yorkton were also home for an Easter Sunday meal. Hope you are feeling much better by now, Mary.
Leonard and Gladys Simle were one of the original occupants in the Prairie Manor Senior Housing 4-Plex back in 1988. They moved at the beginning of April to the Sumner Place senior units in Esterhazy after living in the Dubuc area all their lives. They were born into district pioneer families (Anders Larson/Ernest Anderson, Theodore Simle) and were always active in the farming community, local organizations and sporting events. They lived in the valley near West End where they raised their son, Mark, and daughter, Marion. After moving into the village, they were active members in the Friendship Club which met weekly at the Hut until recent years. Of late, they were involved in the wellness clinics, monthly birthday parties and potluck suppers at the Hut. Their presence in the community will certainly be missed. We wish you all the very best in your new surroundings and hope you will be able to return "home" for a visit often.
Condolences of Dubuc and Community are extended to the family of Joyce (nee Raymond) Stokes who passed from this life after an extended illness on April 5, two days after her 82nd birthday. She is survived by her children, Craig (Karen), Barbara (Dave) Siebert and Raymond (Sandi) and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred, on Feb 1, 1989. A private memorial service will be held at a future date.
Jim Talbot supplied cookies and bought coffee for 19 coffee-rowers on Saturday. Happy birthday, Jim, and many more to come.
The monthly community potluck was held on Wednesday with 33 persons enjoying a Turkey with all the trimmings supper. The winner of the door prize, which was two free potluck supper tickets, was Marvin Horachek. The 50/50 winner was Darlene Yuke who had purchased her tickets in absentia by sending money with a neighbour. Out of town visitors were Cindy, Matthew and McKenzie Degenhardt who accompanied her parents, Bun and Ivan Flick.
