GOODEVE - Members to attend show

Well, as our 4-H year progresses, our excitement and achievement builds. This month has been the one that most 4-H members dread (but with preparation and perseverance), and can excel at the Public Speaking Month.

Well, as our 4-H year progresses, our excitement and achievement builds.

This month has been the one that most 4-H members dread (but with preparation and perseverance), and can excel at the Public Speaking Month.

The Goodeve 4-H Club has proven, once again, the fine quality and tenacity of our members through the hard work of preparing and presenting their public speeches. The awards for the Club's Public Speaking event, held on Feb. 21, are as follows: Seniors: Angela Patron, 2nd place and Katie Olynyk, 1st place, Intermediate: Ty Metham, 2nd place and Wade Olynyk, 1st place, Juniors: Brendan Spilchuk, 2nd place and Cody Tataryn, 1st place.

On March 4, the top two speakers in each class from all of the District 13 clubs had the opportunity to present their speeches at the District Public

Speaking event, where Cody Tataryn placed 1st in the Junior class and Katie Olynyk placed 2nd in the Challenging class and Wade Olynyk, while not placing, gave the audience tremendous laughter with his speech on his dog, Wall-E, and his big paws.

The members were also encouraged to participate in the 4-H Poem Essay, Drawing and Poster contests that took place. Awards were presented at the District Public Speaking event. Hunter Tataryn, from our Goodeve Club, won first place in the Junior class in the poster contest with her poster of a Rock 'n' Roll cow, and our club motto. "Get your green on!'

Congratulations to our members on their participation and their accomplishments.

The Goodeve 4-H Club had it's last meeting on March 11 at the Goodeve Community Centre, and we discussed what multiple drugs and tools are used in treatment of cattle and how and when to use them. We are also putting forth plans to be involved in the 20th anniversary of the Yorkton 4-H Spring Steer and Heifer Show from April 12-14. This is to help prepare the members and their animals for their final show in July, as well as to be involved in all of the fun and festivities that Yorkton has to offer in this spring time event. For any information on our club, our next meeting or any other topics that may be discussed, please feel free to call Roger Tataryn at 795-2753 or Wes Olynyk at 876-4420.

Desjarlais Marlaina Rose daughter of Brooklyn Kraft and Michael Desjarlais of Melville was baptized on Sun., Feb. 26 at Good Shepard Lutheran Church. Godparents are Bruce and Lorie Graff of Melville.

Congratulations to Shauna and Charles Bassingthwaite of Melville on the birth of their third child. A son, Karter Gary Bassingthwaite. Karter was born on Dec. 25, 2011. A little brother for Kody and Brooke. Proud grandparents are Garry and Joyce Bassingthwaite and Cliff and Darlene Barr.

On March 17, St. Patricks Day, the Blue Bonnet held a ham and perogie supper. A good crowd came out to enjoy the delicious meal, the weather was co-operating with us. A 50/50 draw was made and everybody was anxious to see who the lucky winner was. The winner was Ann Elash. A big thank you goes out to everyone who came out and supported the event.

Come one, come all, join the club. The Blue Bonnet is holding their Bingo Day every Wednesday from 2 to 4, starting April 4.
