Kamsack RCMP investigate fatal collision involving pedestrian, on The Key First Nation

A man is facing charges that include failing to stop after an accident, and impaired operation of a vehicle.

THE KEY FIRST NATION - Kamsack RCMP are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian, that happened on The Key First Nation.

On Aug. 24 at approximately 2:55 p.m., Kamsack RCMP received a report of a collision involving four pedestrians - three children and one adult, on The Key First Nation.

Officers responded immediately along with local EMS and STARS. A girl under the age of 12, was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. Her next of kin have been notified.

Two other children, both girls under the age of 12, were transported to hospital with injuries described as serious in nature. An adult male reported non-life threatening injuries to police.

As a result of their investigation, police located and arrested a man on Keeseekoose First Nation.

Kenward Strongquill, 62, from Keeseekoose First Nation, is charged with: failure to stop after accident resulting in death; operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration greater than 80 mg causing bodily harm; and operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration greater than 80 mg causing death.

Strongquill is scheduled to appear in Yorkton Provincial Court on Aug. 29 at 9:30 a.m.  

Kamsack RCMP, Saskatoon RCMP General Investigation Section, and Regina RCMP General Investigation Section continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist as well as Yorkton and Saskatoon Forensic Identification Sections.
