One special tree

Each year, a special Christmas tree is assembled at the Canora Composite School library, which shares the premises with the Canora branch of the Parkland Regional Library. On an annual basis, Jennifer Bisschop, the school librarian, has been creating different versions of the book “Christmas tree,” but what makes this year’s tree even more special is that it was created using books with covers that are predominantly red and green, colours which Bisschop associates with the Christmas season. She used more than 600 books to create this year’s tree. While the students regularly have the opportunity to see the tree, it gained more public attention on Saturday when the Regional Library branch held the Storytime with Mrs. Claus event as part of the Canora Winter Lights Festival. Seated beneath the tree, Mrs. Claus read stories to the children.
