The Preeceville Nursery School was in attendance at the Town of Preeceville community-wide registration evening on September 12.

“We currently have three students in the three-year-old class with more scheduled to begin in Jnauary,” said Lori Newton, the teacher. In the four-year-old class there are 11 students enrolled.”

Full-time and half-time enrolment are possible, she said.

The first day of classes was September 12, with classes held every Tuesday and Thursday for both the three-year and four-year-old students.

The Nursery School will be selling Mom's Pantry products as a fundraiser, Newton said.

The school’s goal for the three-year-old class focuses on social interaction in a learning environment while sharing and respecting other children. The four-year-old class still focuses on the social aspect but it incorporates a lot more hands-on learning like shapes, ABCs, numbers, colours and preparation for Kindergarten with rules and assigned jobs, said Newton.

At the end of every year, the school provides a windup for the students where certificates are awarded as a way of noting the achievements of the students. Throughout the year students are also treated to: an annual Christmas party with a visit from Santa Claus, a Valentine’s Day party and an Easter party.

The students are also involved in a gym day to help increase and promote physical fitness in a fun environment, she said.
