SASKATOON — The City of Saskatoon will begin mailing out almost 100,000 property tax notices on Tuesday, May 9. Property owners should anticipate receiving their 2023 Property Tax Notice over the next few weeks. In case you do not receive your tax notice by May 31, 2023, please contact 306-975-2400.

Accompanying your tax notice is a 2023 Property Tax Notice Guide. Property owners have various payment options available, including spreading their property tax bill over 12 monthly instalments instead of making a single annual payment through the Tax Instalment Payment Plan Service. Property owners can join the TIPPS program at any time.

For those already enrolled in TIPPS, the amount on the 2023 Property Tax notice serves as information only.

It is important to note that late payment penalties will not be imposed if property owners settle their 2023 Property Tax bill on or before the Friday, June 30, 2023, payment deadline. Non-receipt of your property tax notice does not exempt late-payment penalties.

Provincial legislation requires the City of Saskatoon to collect property tax on behalf of three taxing authorities. The total property tax collected in 2023 will be distributed as follows: 59 per cent for the City of Saskatoon to support municipal services and infrastructure, including fire and police protection, transit, road maintenance, utility services, waste disposal, parks, recreation, and more; 35 per cent is billed, collected, and remitted on behalf of the province for education as mandated; and six per cent to support the Saskatoon Public Library.

Your Property's Assessment & Property Tax All property types underwent a reassessment in 2021 and will be reassessed again in 2025. Your property's 2023 Assessed Value, displayed on page 1 of your property tax notice, is based on your property's market value assessment as of January 1, 2019, the provincially legislated base date. Your property's 2023 Assessed Value provides the base on which the City calculates your 2023 Property Tax. For more information and helpful videos, visit saskatoon.ca/assessment.
