YORKTON - Yorkton teachers were out of their classrooms again today (Wednesday) walking downtown streets in support of efforts for a new contract with the province.

The Yorkton effort was part of a province-wide Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation strike.

As part of the same job action the STF has also announced withdrawal of extracurricular activities for Thursday and Friday, March 21 and 22

At the same time thousands of teachers were expected to march on the legislative building to demand the province negotiate on classroom sizes and other supports, on the same day Premier Scott Moe’s Saskatchewan Party budget is going to introduce its latest provincial budget.

Talks between the STF and the province have not found common ground on whether such issues should even be in the collective agreement.
