The Yorkton Regional High School (YRHS) junior football team hasn't finished a season even at .500 in years but they did it this year.

"We've been coming out strong lately," insists head coach Mike Jarvis, following a 41-24 win over the visiting Regina Dinos, who were criticized by fans who attended the game for showing bad sportsmanship.

Jarvis was congratulated by the same fans for the YRHS's play from before, during and after the game.

"It certainly makes you feel proud," he said.

The Raiders' win sends them to the post season where Jarvis said he expects the oranges will finish somewhere between 5-7th place in the Regina Minor Football League (RMFL) standings.

As of the Thanksgiving holiday, YRHS sits in a tie for third with the Lumsden Jr. Devils, each at 4-4 with eight points.

Jarvis said the team won't know their playoff matchup until sometime tomorrow.

DISCIPLINE

Between the win over the Dinos and the next game, attention focusses to certain things that playoff teams must pay attention to in order to keep winning.

One of them happens to be discipline.

"What we don't see a lot of the time is what is said," insists Jarvis.

"You have to keep your mouth shut," he says, referring to the plays between the whistles where players tend to do their trash talking.

"The expectations are very high. The offence is starting to play very well."

Jarvis adds that ball control is something else they may have to worry about.

"Today, we had a few holding-on-to-the-ball issuesbut it's that time of year again," he said.

He also said that focussing is something that should not have to be a problem in the playoffs.
