The Saints of Sacred Heart High School (SHHS) senior boys volleyball team attended the annual Cougar High School Classic volleyball tournament at the University of Regina on Sept. 28-29.

The tournament consisted of four pools with five teams in each.

SHHS's pool had Oxbow, Mossbank, Balfour and Johnson. After the round robin play SHHS only managed to defeat Mossbank which placed them fourth in their pool.

This dropped the team to the 'C' side playoffs facing off against Carnduff in the semi-final. The Saints controlled the match winning 25-20 and 25-22.

This advanced the team to the 'C' final against Weyburn. SHHS lost in two sets 21-25, 23-25.

"Although our results were not great, we were missing two key starters on the weekend which allowed some younger athletes a chance to improve on their game play," reports coach Curtis Moen.

Sam Lohnes and Jared Buzinski showed the greatest improvements throughout the tournament with some strong blocking at the net, add coach Moen. Our next action is on October 12-13 in Oxbow.
