YORKTON - The Yorkton Terriers were in preseason junior hockey action Tuesday hosting the MJHL’s Waywayseecappo Wolverines.
The Terriers opened the scoring at the Westland Insurance Arena in the city when Jackson McDonnell scored 12:51 into the inter-league contest.
Thirty-four seconds later the game was tied 1-1 on a goal by Tim Kim.
Boone Mathison sent the visitors to the dressing room after one period with a 2-1 lead scoring the go-ahead marker at 18:15.
The second period went decidedly in favour of the home side as the Terriers outscored the Wolverines 4-1 in the period to take a 5-3 lead.
Ty Olsen scored a pair for Yorkton, with Colton Koran and Clay Sleeva adding singles.
Carson Bapitiste responded with the Waywayseecappo marker.
In the third period Dylan Ruptash scored to give to round out a 6-3 Yorkton win.
Tessor Wotton who was with Yorkton for a chunk of the 2021-22 SJHL season was in net for the Wolverines, while Sean Norum and Caleb Allen split duties in net for the Terriers.
The Terriers next host Melville tonight, Sept. 7, as the preseason continues.
