YORKTON - The Yorkton Terriers knew they would face a challenge when taking to the ice Saturday in Flin Flon.
The hometown Bombers had an SJHL best 60 points, the Terriers half that with 30 points 10th best in the 12 team loop.
The Bombers started the scoring as Keefe Gruener scored 7:43 into the contest.
Jaron Desnoyers knotted things 1-1 with an unassisted marker for Yorkton at 13:18.
The tie held until a powerplay marker by Brett Butz gave the Terriers a lead 13:35 into the middle frame.
The lead was short-lived as Anthony Bax scored at 16:52 to knot things 2-2.
The tie would hold through the rest or regulation time, and the five-minute overtime, sending the teams to a shoot-out where the host Bombers secured a 3-2 victory.
Adam Kelly took the loss in the Terrier net facing 38-shots, while Harmon Laser-Hume earned the win facing 25-shots.
The two teams are scheduled to meet again today (Sunday).
