YORKTON - The Yorkton Terriers were in home action Saturday hosting LaRonge on a special night as the franchise retired former Terrier Ed Zawatsky’s #14.

Zawatsky had a Yorkton Terrier career that left his name in the team’s record books. He holds the single-season points record with 158 points during the 1986-87 season, a year in which he scored 68 goals. His 158-point campaign ranks ninth in SJHL history.

In total, he amassed 108 goals and 133 assists, tallying 241 points over 122 games in a Terriers uniform, placing him sixth on the franchise’s all-time scoring list.

As it turned out the Terriers could have used a bot of Zawatsky’s old offensive touch before the game at the Westland Insurance Arena was over.

Aiden Meintz gave the visiting Ice Wolves an early lead with a powerplay goal 1:36 into the game.

Grauden Perozni made it 2-0 scoring a second powerplay effort, this time at 12:36.

It would be 3-0 before the team’s headed to the dressing room after the first period as Taite Donkin scored at 19:07.

The Terriers got back into the game as Tate Schofer and Tyan Henrikson scored unanswered second period markers to make it 3-2 LaRonge through 40-minutes of action.

But the Terriers couldn’t find the equalizer in the third period, and when Vinny Di lulio potted an empty netter at the 19-minute mark the visitors had a 4-2 win.

Graham Brown was in net for the LaRonge win facing 27-shots.

Ethan Farrow was tagged with the loss for Yorkton facing 41-shots.

The Terriers remained atop the SJHL Viterra Division with a record of 41-18-1-0 and 63 points, one better than Weyburn but the Red Wings hold two games in-hand. Melville is third with 57-points, and Estevan fourth with 36.
