REGINA – The only thing a recent purse snatcher was able to grab were some fashionable bracelets around his wrists and a court appearance.
Police were called to an area of Rose Street and Saskatchewan Drive around 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 21 for a report of a robbery in progress.
“The preliminary information indicated a male had just stolen a purse from a 52 year-old female, who was shopping downtown,” said RPS in a media release. “The male allegedly grabbed the woman’s purse while she was seated outside a business.”
The victim of the robbery tried to hold onto her purse while calling out for help. A 24-year-old man chased the suspect on foot, and police were able to nab the purse-snatcher, taking him into custody without incident. Fortunately, the victim of the crime was not injured.
Kory Dansereau, 32, of Regina appeared in court on Dec. 22 on charges of robbery and failure to comply with conditions of a release order. His next appearance on these charges will be Dec. 28.
