La Ronge RCMP seize drugs, weapons and arrest man

Dennis Charles has been charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of proceeds of crime, and 11 weapons-related offences.

LA RONGE – A La Ronge area man has been charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of proceeds of crime, and 11 weapons-related offences.

Dennis Riley Charles, 47, made his first appearance in La Ronge Provincial Court Friday.

Charles was arrested Aug. 24 after the La Ronge RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) executed a search warrant at a home on the 100th block of Far Reserve Road in La Ronge District in relation to an ongoing drugs and weapons investigation. La Ronge RCMP Crime Reduction Team and Sask. RCMP Emergency Response Team assisted.

Officers secured a perimeter around the residence to ensure public and officer safety. Charles was arrested on scene without incident and no injuries were sustained by anyone involved in relation to this investigation.

Police located and seized a handgun with the serial number defaced, approximately four ounces of suspected cocaine, a sum of cash in both Canadian and US currency, a cross-bow, drug paraphernalia, knives, a machete, and a hatchet.
