MEADOW LAKE – RCMP have arrested two people and are searching for a third suspect in connection to a shooting on Highway 155 north of Beauval.

Meadow Lake RCMP Crime Reduction Unit and Beauval RCM are investigating the incident that occurred at about 2 p.m. on Aug. 17. Beauval RCMP say their investigation has determined that three people travelling in a vehicle shot at an unoccupied vehicle that was parked on the side of the highway. No injuries were reported.

Beauval RCMP, Ile a la Crosse RCMP, La Loche RCMP,  Meadow Lake RCMP’s Police Dog Services (PDS), and RCMP Crime Reduction (CRT) Team immediately started searching for the suspects. They found the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver of the vehicle didn’t stop.

During proactive patrols in the community, RCMP PDS and CRT officers saw two people run out of a forested area and enter Canoe Lake by canoe. Officers secured a boat and caught up to the two suspects, a man and a woman, on the water. They were arrested without incident. Police say the woman had eight grams of crack cocaine on her at the time.

Marissa McCallum, 24, was charged with two counts, resist/obstructing a peace officer, failing to comply with probation order, and possession of weapons contrary to a court order.

Kelsey Iron, 29, was charged with assault and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

McCallum and Iron appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court Aug. 28.

Zachary Montgrand, 22, is charged with flight from peace officer and dangerous driving. A warrant has been issued for his arrest and Meadow Lake RCMP CRT is working to locate and arrest him. He is also wanted on additional warrants for offences including assault and break-and-enter from Buffalo Narrows RCMP.

Montgrand is approximately 5-foot-9 and 240 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Montgrand may be in Cole Bay, but this can’t be confirmed, say police.
