SASKATOON — Saskatoon Police Service says the report of a male pointing what was believed to be a firearm in the direction of a school led to a significant police response Friday afternoon.
At approximately 2:15 p.m. Friday, May 12, officers responded to the 2500 block of 18th Street West for a report of a male pointing a firearm in the direction of a school before entering a nearby residence.
Police say the school was directed into a perimeter lockdown as several police units responded.
Officers were quickly able to make contact with the occupants of the residence and confirm that a male youth had been playing with a toy gun outside.
There was no threat to public safety and the perimeter lockdown has since been lifted.
