Police arrest Witchekan Lake man wanted for manslaughter

WITCHEKAN LAKE – Update July 28:  Nathaniel Sakebow was located at a business in Saskatoon and arrested by the Saskatoon Police Service without incident on July 27. He remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on July 28.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is now looking to the public to report sightings on a white 2007 GMC Envoy midsize SUV with Saskatchewan License Plate 342 MUN.

Original story: Sask. RCMP Major Crimes is asking the public to report sightings on the whereabouts of 32-year-old Nathaniel Sakebow who is wanted for manslaughter.

Police arrested 35-year-old Chase Cardinal from Vilna, Alta., without incident earlier Wednesday morning in Spiritwood. He appears in North Battleford Provincial Court July 27 on a manslaughter charge.

Sakebow and Cardinal were charged following an assault on 38-year-old Teddy Whitehead from Pelican Lake First Nation at a home on Witchekan Lake First Nation on July 15. Whitehead died from his injuries. 

A warrant for Sakebow’s arrest has been issued. He is about 5-foot-8 tall and 235 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

RCMP Major Crimes is trying to locate Sakebow and continue to follow-up on any information provided to them to further the investigation.

The investigation is being supported by officers from the Spiritwood RCMP, North Battleford RCMP Forensic Identification Services, Saskatoon General Investigation Section and the North Battleford Provincial General Investigation Section.
