REGINA – A preliminary hearing date has been set for two men charged with Regina’s first murder of 2023.
Darian Toto, 25, and Peter Anthony Sheepskin, 46, are jointly charged with second degree murder related to the Feb. 9 death of 36-year-old Patrick Badger. The two men appeared separately in Regina Provincial Court this morning, via video from the Regina Provincial Correctional Centre.
Judge Murray Hinds agreed with defence counsel’s suggestion of Sept. 14 as a date for the preliminary hearing for Toto and Sheepskin.
Toto also entered not guilty pleas in two other informations, with charges including robbery, assault, aggravated assault and breach of probation. Trial dates for Toto’s unrelated matters were set for Oct. 12 and 18.
The murder charge both men are accused of stems from an incident on the 600 block of Garnet Street on Feb. 9. Just before noon, emergency crews attended that location for an apparent overdose, but EMS pronounced Badger deceased at the scene.
Police investigation led to Sheepskin and Toto as suspects and they were arrested.
Both men will be remanded in custody until the hearing next week.
