PRINCE ALBERT – Police were called to the area of 1000 block of River Street West around 8:25 p.m. on Jan. 5 after an injured male knocked on a neighbour’s door asking for help. He had serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Parkland Ambulance provided medical help to the victim and took him to Victoria Hospital.
Prince Albert Police say that two males armed with an edged weapon, one known to the victim, had entered the victim’s home and robbed him of cash before fleeing.
About three-and-a-half-hours later, patrol officers located and arrested one of the suspects in the 1000 block of 24th Street West. Chaz Umpherville, 30, was charged with robbery, intimidation of a justice system participant, aggravated assault, possession of methampthtamine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of Canadian currency obtained by crime.
Police say at the time of Umpherville’s arrest, he had 13.2 grams of methamphetamine and additional evidence of drug trafficking.
Umpherville appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Jan. 8.
Police are searching for the second suspect. He is an Indegenous male, shorter than 5-foot-10 and has a tattoo on his cheek. He was last seen wearing dark clothing and a black parka.
