KEESEEKOOSE FIRST NATION – A man with a gun was arrested on the Keeseekoose First Nation after police received a report of multiple shots fired. Members from Kamsack and Canora RCMP investigated the Jan. 4 incident, arriving on scene at around 10:35 p.m.

“Initial investigation determined a male was seen walking in the Keeseekoose Village carrying a firearm,” said RCMP in a media release. “No injuries were reported to police.”

Patrols were conducted to find the suspect, and an arrest was made the following morning. Upon executing a search warrant in the residence where the man was discovered, police found four firearms and ammunition, which was then seized by officers.

Dylan Kakakaway, 22, of Keeseekoose First Nation was charged with discharging a firearm in a reckless manner, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and unauthorized possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on these charges on Jan. 24 in Kamsack.
