Shots fired in North Central Regina

Wayward bullet entered home in the 1300 block of Athol Street, say police.

REGINA – Gunshots heard in the early morning hours of Jan. 12 prompted a call to police in the 1300 block of Athol Street.

“The caller was able to provide a description of one person seen in the area where the shots were heard,” said RPS. “Police attended and spotted a male matching the suspect description.”

The male fled on foot, and it seemed like the chase would be momentarily unresolved as the canine team were unable to track the suspect. Police did find a backpack containing a sawed off shotgun during the chase.

More gunshots were heard, and police once again located the person matching the initial description, and this time the canine team caught their man. Three men, in fact, in the 1300 block of Athol Street and Montague Street.

“One male sustained a dog-bite injury,” RPS noted. “A second canine team assisted officers in locating several items - including firearms - as evidence.”

Officers also discovered a bullet that had struck a residence, going through the outside wall and travelling through the home’s kitchen before lodging in the opposite kitchen wall.

Tristan Daniel McNabb, 21, Wyatt Nathaniel Dubois, 21, and Michael James Delorme-Whitequill, 19, all of Regina were charged with a single count reckless discharge of a firearm; and two counts each possession of a prohibited firearm, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm. McNabb was further charged with breach of undertaking, while Dubois was additionally charged with two counts possession of a firearm while prohibited; and a single count breach of probation. Delorme-Whitequill also faced further charges of four counts possession of a firearm while prohibited; and a single count breach of probation.

All three men made initial court appearances on these charges on Jan. 13.
