Two men appear in Regina court on child porn charges

Both will be remanded until a future court date on a total of 13 charges.

REGINA – Two men made first appearances on child pornography charges in Regina Provincial Court today.

The men were arrested April 18 after an investigation that began six days earlier, with the joint efforts of the Regina Children’s Justice Centre, the Saskatchewan Integrated Child Exploitation Unit and the Regina Police Service Vice Unit.

"The investigation revealed that the victim had been sexually assaulted by two male suspects over a period of several years," said RPS in a media release.

Both of the accused will remain in custody until at least their next court dates, as the Crown was opposed to their release. The victim’s name is protected by a publication ban.

The offences ranged from April 1, 2017 to Dec. 27, 2022 involving a female victim. The first man is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, make child pornography, possession of child pornography, and communicating with a person under the age of 18 to facilitate the offences. His next court appearance will be on April 25.

The second man was charged with counts of sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, sexual assault, making child pornography, make available visible representation of someone under the age of 16 engaged in sexual activity, obtain money for a sexual service from someone under the age of 18, and communication with a person under the age of 18 for purposes of the offence. His next court appearance will be April 24.
