MEADOW LAKE – A 23-year-old man who was wanted by police and considered dangerous remains in custody.
Kashtin Sandfly had an appearance scheduled in Meadow Lake Court on Thursday and was remanded in custody until his next appearance on March 15.
In December 2021, while searching for Sandfly, RCMP had released his photo warning people not to approach him.
In October 2022, Piereceland RCMP were searching for Sandfly again after he had been granted bail and left the residence that he was supposed to be at 24-hours a day. He was located, arrested and charged with failing to comply with a release order.
Sandfly’s original charges stem from an incident where shots were fired at a home and injured a man on Island Lake First Nation in December 2021. Hours later police got a call that an injured man was inside a vehicle on a remote heavily snow-covered road. Police located him and took him to a main road so he could receive medical attention.
In that incident, Sandfly was charged with discharging a firearm with intent and being in a vehicle knowing there was a firearm.
Sandfly also had charges of possession of property over $5,000 obtained by crime out of Lloydminster, Sask. Those charges were waived to Meadow Lake court.
