Regina police make arrest in weekend murder

Kesar Shannon faces five charges including first degree murder.

REGINA – Update: An arrest has been made related to a homicide in Regina over the weekend.

Kesar Shannon, 19, made  his first appearance this morning in Regina Provincial Court, facing charges of first degree murder, disguise with intent, and three counts of firearms offences. He will return to court on Sept. 25 after an adjournment to seek counsel.

Police have not released the name of the man who died, only that the victim was 23 years of age.

Original Report: A death over the weekend in the city is being investigated as a homicide.

Police were called to the 1200 block of Winnipeg Street at around 1:15 a.m. on Sept. 16 for a report of an injured man.

"The male was pronounced deceased on scene shortly after by EMS," said RPS in a media release. "The identity of the male victim is not known at this time."
