WARMAN - The incumbent MLA for Martensville-Warman is now in place to run again for the Sask Party in the new Warman constituency.
Terry Jenson won the nod to be the Saskatchewan Party’s candidate for Warman in at a party nomination meeting held Tuesday night.
“I want to thank everyone who came out to support me tonight,” Jenson said in a statement. “I look forward to meeting and talking with folks across the new Warman constituency in the lead up to the next election.”
Jenson, who is one of a handful of SaskParty incumbents to face a nomination challenge this election cycle, beat out Warman city councillor Shaun Cripps to earn a shot at re-election in 2024.
A Warman resident, Jenson was first elected in 2020. He was forced to choose after his Martensville-Warman riding was essentially split into two seats in the latest redistribution, due to the area seeing some of the highest population growth in the province since the last provincial election.
For 2024, the constituencies have split into Warman on the east side and Martensville-Blairmore to the west; that latter riding also encompasses the rural area around Dalmeny and the Saskatoon neighbourhood of Blairmore. Both areas have long been strongholds for the Saskatchewan Party.
Prior to entering politics, Jenson was involved in the community newspaper industry as owner of the Clark’s Crossing Gazette. He currently serves as Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Immigration and Career Training and is a member of the Standing Committee on Human Services.
