MELFORT — Melfort's fire chief has been dismissed from the city.
Shaun Stewart was hired by the City of Melfort in December 2019 to serve as fire chief and director of protective services.
City manager Adam Homes confirmed that Stewart’s last day was Nov. 16, 2023.
Currently the City of Melfort is reviewing the director of protective services position and plans to advertise shortly.
"Our communities can count on the Melfort Fire Department to provide ongoing service," Homes said. "Under the leadership of Deputy Chief Doug Walsh, the team at Melfort Fire has developed and implemented effective protocols and procedures to ensure smooth operations."
