New work by Dana Standinghorn is currently profiled on the feature wall in the Chapel Gallery.
Standinghorn is a local artist who has been painting for 17 years. She was recently awarded a grant to develop a body of artwork grounded in her meditation practice. Her works are abstract and she uses mainly acrylic on canvas. Her ability to let the painting tell the story leads to creative pieces that can have a different meaning for each viewer.
The Dimensions show of fine craft continues in the main gallery space and Karlie King has a new exhibition in the Window Salon. DeskArt (pronounced day-Kart) visually explores and represents the ideas of the French philosopher Descartes. The show is a collection of wooden desk tops that have original carvings of images and words combined with print-making techniques to produce a visual depiction of ideas presented by Descartes.
The Chapel Gallery is located in the Don Ross Centre at 891 - 99th St. and is open daily from noon to 5 p.m. For more information please contact the Chapel Gallery at 445-1757.
