I'm back again after a wonderful summer. We can't complain about our weather this year as it was mostly lovely, warm and sunny. Hopefully September will be nice too, so the farmers can get their harvesting done.
Many of our tenants spent holidays away or had company visiting this summer.
Aug 10, Joan Blixrud's granddaughter took her to Rosthern to visit her daughter and her grandchildren. She travelled with her granddaughter, two daughters and a grandson. While there she was able to enjoy the farm and a wonderful lunch.
Aug. 14, Joan's granddaughter and her husband celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. They went to Battlefords Provincial Park where her granddaughter rented a pontoon boat and they all went boating on Jackfish Lake. It was enjoyable and relaxing on the water. It sounds like Joan had a wonderful holiday.
George and Nancy Milnthorp had their great-grandchildren, Danni, Britt and Tyson Meyers from Melfort, visiting them during the summer holidays. I'm sure you had an enjoyable time, folks.
Alpha Schmirler is a great-grandma now, as her grandson and his wife had a baby boy in Edmonton recently. Congratulations to you all.
July 1 to 3, Ida Baker went to Biggar for their 100 years celebration. You must have had a great time, Ida.
Theresa Berton visited her cousins in Edmonton. She said it was a nice break to get away for a few days and she enjoyed the time with her relatives.
Vivian Bertsch was happy to celebrate her 90th birthday with the company of her nieces and nephews - Larry and Donna Charbonneau and Linda and Marcelle Philbert all of Calgary, Alta., Marlene Smith from Waldheim and Glenda from Edmonton, Alta. I'm sure you all had a wonderful visit and congratulations, Vivian, on your 90th birthday.
Aug. 14, Mildred Kleiv travelled to Edam to attend the 90th birthday celebration for her sister-in-law, Lillian Lavasseur. They enjoyed a come and go tea and a barbecue.
Barbara Foot had a nice time when she visited her daughter in Pierceland this summer.
I had a busy summer, too. I spent several days with a friend at Cochin and a few days with my granddaughters and daughters at Travesa Beach on Jackfish lake in July. I also attended a Kendall reunion with 28 of my family at a beautiful Outerbanks Chalet in Gronlid, north and east of Melfort. It was a wonderful time of visiting, eating and taking pictures. It was an exciting time with 10 great-grandchildren roaring around. Unfortunately, two granddaughters and a great-granddaughter could not make it, but hopefully next time.
I also spent a lovely weekend with my daughters at the spa in Moose Jaw. I think you'll all agree it's time I stayed home for awhile.
We also enjoyed many delicious meals this summer . July 17, we were treated to a chicken burger barbecue. Afterwards the Eagle Hill Band entertained us with their great music.
July 29, we were faovured with a tasty roast beef dinner.
We were eating again Aug. 19, when we dined on a barbecue of ribs. We were then delightfully entertained by Dwight Hemmerling, John Archer and Leon Ocks.
Second to None catered a cold plate dinner for us Aug. 30. Then we were entertained by one of our favourite musical trios, Edna Wuem, John Harrison and Niel Smith, The Eagle Hills Band.
Unfortunately we've had a few tenants in the hospital this summer, either from falls or being sick. So, get well wishes go to Jane Irving, Vivian Bertsch, Ada Pasutto and Helen Blackstock. Thankfully they are all out of hospital now. So, we hope you are feeling better.
We will all be enjoying and participating in our different activities now. Cards, shuffleboard and bingo will be on the agenda. So, all new comers are invited to come and join in.
Take care, everyone.
