Weed control officer John Hammond for the RM of Glenside has made his annual trip through the area to control the hard-to-kill weed patches. He had the past pest control officer, Jim Carr, with him to show where to go to those patches. The area is all new to John. The R.M. mower has been out cutting the tall grass and weeds along all the main roads and the grid road. It has made it much safer to drive, with so many white tail deer along these roadsides.

Crops are progressing fast and turning ripe in colour in the area. The lovely bush green has gone off most fields. Some swathing of canola fields is just starting and more fields are almost ready to swath. The haying operation is slowly coming to a close. There is still some swaths to bale up. It has got wet with the recent rains in the local area.

The school holidays are quickly coming to a close. School classes begin on August 31 for another new term.

Just a quick reminder to all the active recreation board members of the first meeting of the new season. The meeting will be held at the home of Linda Hardenne of Lizard Lake community at 7:30 p.m. We are always looking for ideas on how to use the grant money on recreational activities that can be held in each of the three communities in the R.M. of Glenside.

Glenn and Eileen Peters of Rainbow Lake, Alta., have spent some time on the local farm. They have been trying to get hay cut and baled between rain showers and machinery breakdowns.
