ATV fatality

Pierceland RCMP are currently investigating an ATV fatality which occurred Aug. 19 at 10:30 a.m. in a wooded pasture near the community of Pierceland. The operator of the ATV was in a remote area when he lost control and was thrown from the ATV.

The operator of the ATV was in a remote area when he lost control and was thrown from the ATV. The operator, a 14-year-old male from Pierceland was pinned by the ATV and deceased when discovered by others who went looking for him when he did not return. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time.

The provincial coroner, as well as investigators from the Pierceland Detachment continues to investigate this fatality.

ATV use in the Pierceland and other rural areas is a popular activity and the RCMP would like to remind everyone to use these machines safely and responsibly.
