Support for the Humboldt Broncos has been coming in droves, including by way of food donations.
Judy Plag, owner of Humboldt's Bella Vista Inn, says support from companies and suppliers was overwhelming with excess amounts of meat left over from funeral luncheons.
Those will be turned into pizzas for a free community pizza night on May 3, which will include a show with the 2018 Comedy for Quality of Life comedy tour.
Comedian Eric Payne contacted Plag about a week ago to offer the free show to help Humboldt heal, she says.
Payne has ties to the sledge hockey community considering he has played himself.
"They're up in Yellowknife right now, and they just wanted to come through Humboldt and help us heal by giving us a free show."
While the event may be in the Winston Room at the BV, Plag says this is a collaboration with herself and Johnny's Bistro.
"We've collaborated. Our suppliers donated the meat, the paper products, the Campbell's soup for the funeral lunches. It was amazing the outpouring of that."
This is not a fundraising event, however, Plag says they will be taking donations and everyone should feel free to wear jerseys or come as they wish.
