City firefighters prevent fire from spreading

Saskatoon Fire Department dispatch received the report at 6:27 p.m.

SASKATOON — Property damage could reach more than $100,000 after a two-storey duplex in the 2300 block of 33rd Street West nearly burned to the ground on Sunday night, Aug. 25.

Saskatoon Fire Department dispatch received the report at 6:27 p.m. The structure was between another residential structure and the Circle K convenience store at 33rd Street and Avenue W North.

SFD crews saw flames from multiple windows of the residential structure and began a transitional attack from the exterior. Another team entered the structure to search and confirm that all occupants were evacuated and that no one remained inside.

Firefighters controlled the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures before completely extinguishing it. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. The fire investigator took over the scene after the structure was ventilated.

The fire investigator examined the scene to identify the cause and origin of the fire and estimate the damage. The SFD will provide more information as it becomes available.
