Nominations are now in, and already much of the suspense has been lifted from the 21st annual BBEX Awards.
The recipient of Business of the Year for 2014 is Nutec Embroidery Ltd., operating as Nutec Embroidery Arrow Trophies Signs of the Times.
It is unusual for the winner of the prestigious and usually competitive Business of the Year category to be made known before the awards ceremony.
Traditionally, it is the Heritage Award winner that is announced well in advance. This year the recipient is Battlefords Trade and Education Centre, Inc.
Other nominees announced in the various categories include the following:
Community Contribution: Battlefords North Stars Hockey Club, Canadian Tire North Battleford, Lakeland Veterinary Services P.C. Ltd., Lifetime Fitness, Splish Splash Auto, RV and Pet Wash.
Marketing: Gold Eagle Lodge, Lifetime Fitness, Rayburn Dental Studio.
New Business Venture: Eternal Memories Funeral Service and Crematorium Inc., Ironclad Safety Ltd., Venture West Charters Ltd.
Micro Business: Ironclad Safety Ltd., Realty Solutions AKL Ltd., Warne Photography.
Customer Service: Advancing Pet Solutions, Doug's Paint Shoppe, Nutec Embroidery Arrow Trophies Signs of the Times.
The awards are to be presented Oct. 7 at the Dekker Centre for the Performing Arts. It is the third year in a row the Dekker Centre is hosting the awards.
