RM election results

There were a number of races decided by voters at the ballot box in the Northwest region's rural municipalities Oct. 24.

Most of the seats had already been filled by acclamations after the Sept. 19 nomination deadline, but there were still a number of races that did go to an election last Wednesday for reeve and council.

Here is a rundown of unofficial results from the Northwest region races that did go to a vote (all other positions filled by acclamation):

RM of North Battleford: Dan Bartko is the new reeve in North Battleford, defeating Jim Rogers by six votes, 137 to 131.

RM of Battle River: Barry Williams has won the council race in Division 3, defeating Shaun Jamieson by 36 votes to 15.

RM of Eldon: Garry Taylor is re-elected reeve with 123 votes. Donald Young received 35.

RM of Meeting Lake: Lyle Prescesky wins reelection as reeve with 137 compared to 56 for Dave Rogers. Bernard Humen was re-elected in Div. 1 with 31 votes to 17 for Curtis Babiy.

RM of Mervin: Tom Brown is the new reeve defeating incumbent Harold Kivimaa by 294 to 109. Incumbent Alex McDonald won Div. 3 46 to 30 over Randy Domes, while Evelyn Bloom defeated William Bleakney in Div. 5 by 66 votes to 40.

RM of Great Bend: Greg Orchard wins Div. 1 with 19 votes to 17 for Lance Walker and 13 for Elizabeth Torrens.

RM of Parkdale: Robert Pylypow is the new reeve, defeating incumbent James Robert Gourlay 147 to 91.

RM of Redberry: Christopher Gonda defeated Douglas Herring 37-24 in the Div. 3 council race.

RM of Glenside: No results posted at press time in the reeve's race or in the Div. 5 council race.

RM of Medstead: No results posted yet on the Div. 1 council race. The RM had also re-advertised for nominations in Div. 5 after no one come forward by the nomination deadline.

There were no elections at all held in the RMs of Meota, Frenchman Butte, Mayfield, Brittania, Paynton, Douglas, Round Hill and Turtle River, where all positions were filled by acclaim.
