Saskatchewan's Ukrainian community is paying tribute to the late former mayor of North Battleford.

Julian Sadlowski is one of four individuals being honoured with the Nation Builders Award by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress - Saskatchewan Provincial Council.

The others receiving honors include Adrian Boyko, Steve Pillipow and finance minister Ken Krawetz.

Awards are to be presented Nov. 4 in Yorkton at the St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Parish Cultural Centre beginning at 11:30 a.m. Awards are also to be presented for cultural preservation and development to Doris Makowsky and Gerald Yaholnitsky, for leadership to Gene Makowsky and for volunteerism to Wayne Hydeman and Jean Saranchuk.

Sadlowski, who died earlier this year, was mayor of North Battleford from 2003 to 2009. He was noted by UCC-SPC for being the first Ukrainian elected mayor of North Battleford, as well as an educator, artist and community activist.
