The Northwest was not spared from the tornado watches and warnings issued throughout Saskatchewan Friday.
The Battlefords was under a tornado watch for much of the afternoon Friday. However, both Battleford and North Battleford were spared the brunt of the impact from the storms throughout the province.
Not so lucky was the area south of Unity down to Kerrobert, which saw a number of sightings of a funnel cloud. Also reported were funnel clouds around the Asquith and Perdue area close to Biggar.
Residents of the Red Pheasant First Nation south of the Battlefords also reported seeing funnel clouds, quite possibly from the same system that produced the Asquith and Perdue funnel cloud.
Funnels were also spotted in other areas of the province including the Davidson area and Colonsay. Saskatoon was also under a tornado Friday.
Up to quarter-sized hail was also reported with the storms, with the Radisson area reported to have been hard-hit by the deluge Friday afternoon.
While there were numerous tornado sightings reported Friday, not much has been reported in the way of actual tornado damage. It remains up to Environment Canada to determine whether the funnel clouds actually touched the ground.
