A man picked up in Calgary last week in relation to longstanding charges from a November 2008 shooting incident in North Battleford was in court Monday.

Joshua Sauvie, 24, of Red Pheasant First Nation appeared in provincial court in North Battleford to face charges of using a firearm in the commission of an offence, criminal harassment, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and membership in a criminal organization.

Sauvie, who had been at large on a Canada-wide warrant, was arrested by Calgary police August 17 in connection to an incident where shots were fired on 110th Street in North Battleford on November 30th, 2008. Solomon Mosquito of North Battleford and Harley Lennox Bugler of Red Pheasant First Nation were both previously convicted for their roles in the incident.

The Crown has opposed Sauvie's release, and he is remanded in custody until Thursday morning when his lawyer will be available for another court appearance. A bail verification report is being prepared in the case, and the possibility is being considered of releasing Sauvie with electronic monitoring.
