A number of drug charges have been laid following a search warrant in the RM of Brittania.
According to Maidstone RCMP, at around 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, members of Maidstone Detachment and Lloydminster Rural Detachment, with assistance from St. Walburg/Turtleford Detachment, K Division Lloydminster City Police Dog Service and K Division Lloydminster City GIS section, executed a search warrant at a rural residence in the RM of Brittania.
As a result three adult males and two adult females were arrested without incident. Police report they were transported to K Division Lloydminster City Detachment Cells for processing and further investigation.
Seized was a small amount of marijuana, cocaine, unknown pills, unlawful prescription pills, a hand gun, a rifle, knives, items of stolen property, and a large amount of copper wire.
One female was interviewed and released without charges; the other female was remanded on nine charges for possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and breach of court ordered conditions charges from K Division Lloydminster City Detachment and from F Division Maidstone and Lloydminster Rural.
One male was charged with breaching court ordered conditions and released.
Another male was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of cocaine and remains remanded in custody pending an upcoming court appearance.
The last male had numerous warrants and outstanding charges in both K Division Lloydminster City Detachment, and F Division Maidstone and Lloydminster Rural Detachments. He was remanded and faces charges of forcible confinement, intimidation, careless storage of firearms charges, possession of stolen property, possession of a prohibited weapon and unlawfully possessing a firearm.
Police report that F Division Maidstone and Lloydminster Rural Detachments,along with K Division Lloydminster City Detachment and K Division Kitscoty Detachment have also faced numerous complaints of copper wire thefts andthefts from oil well and battery sites, over the past while. They add further investigation involving their partners will take place.
The investigation is ongoing and while that goes on the names of the persons charged, released, and/or remanded will not be released.
