Information on director of finance Matthew Hartney's budget presentation to city council Monday on the 2013 property class mill rates should be made available this week at the city website: www.cityofnb.ca.
As well, Hartney and Marketing And Communications Co-ordinator Mike Halstead plan to prepare an insert/information sheet to include with all tax notices to be sent in the next few weeks, as a way to explain and clarify the different portions included in the notice. Tax notices are to be mailed in June.
Public Works Director Stewart Schafer filed the 2012 water reports for both the water treatment plants and also the wastewater treatment plants.
With respect to the water treatment report, Schafer reported the water quality is good and met Water Security Agency guidelines. As for the wastewater treatment plant, it also met all the guidelines from the Water Security Agency as well as the Ministry of Environment.
As well, Schafer reminds residents that water line flushing begins Sunday, June 2. Full details and a map of the flushing area can be found at www.cityofnb.ca.
A summer student has been hired for three months as a bylaw enforcement officer for a term ending Aug. 16.
Administration will prepare a bylaw for approval for a three-year agreement with Fire Marque Inc. to recover fire service costs under existing insurance policies.
A discretionary land use application to develop a hair salon (home based business) at 2621 Campbell Cres. was approved.
An application to subdivide land in the RM of North Battleford No. 437 was approved at council, to accommodate an existing development in the RM (formerly Browns Axel.) It accommodates creation of separate title to the industrial/commercial site.
