From a child being held hostage by his bicycle to a Molotov cocktail lobbed onto a residential lawn, North Battleford Fire and Emergency Services personnel had a wild and crazy few days leading up to the Canada Day Weekend.
Friday at about 6:30 p.m., three firefighters freed a young boy who had his leg stuck in the wheel of his bicycle by removing the back tire.
At about 10 p.m. Friday, two firefighters responded to a report of a Molotov cocktail on a lawn at 1281 - 106th St. The fire was out by the time crews arrived.
Four vehicles were involved in a smash up on the southbound North Saskatchewan River bridge at about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday. No injuries were reported.
A child was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of Frontier Mall Thursday at about 7:30 p.m. The child was described as stable with undetermined injuries when transported to hospital by ambulance.
A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Territorial Drive and 100th Street just before 7 p.m. Thursday sent two people to hospital with undetermined injuries.
Thursday morning, firefighters responded to a report of smoke at 1846 - 92nd St. The house sustained smoke and fire damage from a cooking fire, which had been extinguished before fire crews arrived. Firefighters assisted with smoke removal and determined unattended cooking oil was the cause.
A small fire in woodchips in a playground at 352 - 110th St. was extinguished at about 2:15 p.m. on Canada Day.
