Youth charged with aggravated assault following stabbing

The suspect and victim were both sent to hospital.

SASKATOON - One male has been arrested in relation to an assault in Saskatoon Monday night.

At approximately 8:40 p.m. on Oct. 7, police were called to the 400 block of 2nd Avenue South for a report of a male who had been stabbed. At the same time, police were called to 20th Street East and 4th Avenue South for a report of a male that had been bear sprayed and stabbed.

Upon arrival to the first call, officers located an injured 14-year-old male youth suffering from injuries consistent with a stab wound. He was transported to hospital by paramedics with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Upon arrival to the second call, officers located a 17-year-old male youth suffering from the effects of bear spray; he was treated by paramedics and transported to hospital for further care.

Upon further investigation, officers learned the 17-year-old male youth from the second call was the suspect in the first call. Officers were then able to arrest the male without further incident.

As a result, a 17-year-old male suspect is facing charges relating to aggravated assault, and failure to comply with court-ordered conditions.
